A non-surgical blepharoplasty can be performed with an advanced, specially designed thermal heat device to lift and tighten the skin around the eyes without surgery.
It can be a good treatment choice for those who don’t want to undergo a surgical procedure but still want to target fine lines and skin laxity around the eyes with an effective approach.

What is a non-surgical blepharoplasty, and how does it work?
A non-surgical blepharoplasty uses thermal heat on the skin around the eyes, which works to contract collagen fibres.
Collagen is responsible for keeping the skin tight, elastic and smooth, and its natural depletion as we age is part of why we can begin to see wrinkles and looser skin. By stimulating collagen production, the skin can begin to re-tighten and lift.
Since collagen is a large part of maintaining the skin’s integrity, the most convenient part of this treatment method is that it can treat multiple skin concerns at once. As well as skin laxity and fine lines, our thermal heat non-surgical blepharoplasty can treat skin texture and tone.
The treatment can also be personalised to focus on specific areas of the skin. For example, depending on your needs, we can focus on expression lines, static wrinkles, hooded skin above the eyes and eye bags beneath the eyes.
While it isn’t a surgical procedure, it can still achieve long-lasting results, as the results are created by stimulating natural collagen growth over time.
Why do people choose a non-surgical blepharoplasty?
Patients may choose a non-surgical approach over a traditional blepharoplasty for a variety of reasons.
Firstly, since it’s a far less extensive (it’s non-invasive!) procedure, it’s involved with minimal to no downtime, while surgery will require a recovery period. Apart from some normal swelling and redness around the eyes for a few days, there won’t be many post-treatment symptoms after our non-surgical option, and you can typically return to your usual daily activities straight away.
The next common reason is that avoiding surgery can also avoid the possible risks and complications that could follow. Sometimes, patients may simply want to avoid surgery for personal reasons, while others may actually have contraindications to a surgical blepharoplasty that can lead them to opt for a non-invasive option.
Another reason is that, while it may not achieve as extensive of results as surgery, it can still achieve quite effective results relatively quickly. If a patient only has minor to moderate signs of ageing around the eyes, taking the thermal heat approach can achieve sufficient results without an approach that requires anaesthesia, incisions and all of the other aspects of surgery.
While some people do choose this treatment option over a surgical blepharoplasty, the decision does ultimately come down to your personal needs. A consultation with your chosen practitioner can assess the skin around your eyes and determine which option may be more suitable.
What you can expect after your non-surgical blepharoplasty treatment
Like we’ve briefly mentioned, recovery after our non-surgical option is quite minimal and typically only takes a few days or so.
You may notice some minor swelling and redness due to the effects of the thermal heat, but this is normal and should subside fairly quickly. If you want to cover up some of the redness, you can typically use a cover-up cream, but check with our team first to make sure it’s a suitable product and won’t cause any irritation.
You can also use your normal facial cleanser after the treatment – however, if you feel a stinging sensation around the eyes or any discomfort, it’s important that you stop using it for a while. Once the swelling subsides, you can try using it again – essentially, we recommend paying attention to how the skin feels and returning back to your normal skincare routine once it feels comfortable. Until you feel okay to use a cleanser, simply washing the skin around the eyes with water is okay.
To help swelling subside quicker, you may like to try and sleep with your upper body slightly elevated on an extra or higher pillow. Keeping your head elevated for prolonged periods of rest can help reduce swelling and prevent it from worsening.
The most important step you’ll need to follow is to protect your eyes from UV rays. This is absolutely essential – protecting your skin from the sun will help to prevent pigmentation aftee the treatment.
You can protect the skin around the eyes by wearing wide-brimmed sunglasses and applying a gentle, light sunscreen with a high SPF (50+ is ideal and quite easy to find). While it’ll be most important to do this within the few days after your thermal treatment, it’s quite a good idea to think about protecting your eyes from sunlight in general – especially in the sunnier months.
Our other eye-lifting options
If you do find that our non-surgical thermal eye treatment isn’t a suitable choice, Chelsea Cosmetics offers a variety of options that could align with your needs.
Our options include another eye bag removal treatment, a volumising treatment that can treat hollowness beneath the eyes, and a xanthelasma treatment (to treat yellowish growths near the eyelids caused by a build-up of cholesterol deposits).
We also offer surgical blepharoplasty. If you decide that a surgical approach may be suitable, we can discuss this option during your consultation.
Your consultation will allow us to assess your needs and discuss all of the options available to help you decide which one may be best for you. Once you have decided on a particular treatment, we can create a treatment plan that personalises it to suit your needs.
