Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation Melbourne
Uses the patient’s body fat to increase breast volume
Breast Fat Transfer
A breast fat transfer procedure involves using your own fat (autologous fat) to increase breast size. Fat is first removed from other areas of the body using liposuction and then transferred to the breasts to add volume. This option may be considered by patients seeking a modest increase in breast size (generally up to one cup) without implants.
Before deciding on cosmetic surgery, it is important to have realistic expectations. You should discuss with Dr Mark Attalla what the procedure may involve, including the recovery period and possible outcomes.

How Breast Enlargement Fat Transfer Works
Stage 1: Fat Collection
The process begins with fat being collected from other areas of the body using liposuction. Small entry points are made in the selected areas, and a thin tube is used to carefully remove fat.
Stage 2: Preparing the Fat
Once collected, the fat is processed to separate it from any fluids. This step ensures that only purified fat is set aside for transfer. The prepared fat is then placed into syringes, ready for use in the next stage.
Stage 3: Placement in the Breast Area
Small entry points are made in specific areas of the breast, determined by the patient’s individual anatomy. The processed fat is then carefully placed into the breast. The fat is layered gradually to help it blend with the existing breast tissue.
Stage 4: Integration of the Fat
Some of the transferred fat may not remain, as the body naturally absorbs part of it. Because of this, a little more fat is placed during the procedure. The remaining fat integrates with the surrounding tissue over time.
Stage 5: Support and Recovery
Once the transfer is complete, support garments are usually provided to help with healing. A surgical bra may be worn initially, followed by a sports bra for continued support while allowing blood flow. Compression garments are also commonly used on the areas where fat has been collected, helping them adapt to their new shape during recovery.
Recovery Period
After Surgery: Soreness is expected for a few days, which can be managed with medication if needed.
1 week: Breasts are checked at follow-up; swelling may make them appear larger than expected.
2–4 weeks: Bruising resolves in the fat-harvesting areas, while breast bruising may take about a month.
6 weeks: Patients can return to normal routines, including exercise.
12 weeks: Avoiding pressure on the breasts is usually advised until this point.
6 months: Most swelling has settled.
12 months: Final breast size and shape are generally visible.
Recovery time can vary between patients and depends on several factors, including the amount of fat transferred, individual healing capacity, and how well aftercare instructions are followed.
